![]() When I first opened the game, I didn’t get the point of the holes on the cards. The rules are very easy to explain and, after a round or two, most players will get it. Despite the repugnant theme, the game is actually quite enjoyable. ![]() ![]() I’m a pretty big fan of dexterity games, so I was looking forward to checking out Garbage Day. Players must use a deft hand to stack cards onto the garbage can. The last player left in the game is the winner. If, during placement, you knock any cards off the trash can, they get placed into the overflow in your room.Īfter your turn, the next player takes theirs and so on. You must place cards on top of other cards, not under or in between. You may not move cards already on the can.You must be able to see the table through the holes. The two holes on the card being played must not be blocked. There are a few rules when playing cards onto the trash can: Overflow: At the end of your turn, if you have too many cards in your overflow (3 to 5, depending on the player count), you are out of the game. Take every card in your room and place it on the trash can, one at a time.Ĥ. When the total of all the numbers on the cards in your room hit 10, you must clean out your room. Check Room: Each trash card has a number on it. The icons on the card will determine where they can be played.ģ. Play a card: Cards are played either into a your room, an opponent’s room, or directly onto the trash can. Draw Cards: Draw to a hand size of 3 cards.Ģ.The trash can is placed in the middle of the table.Ī player’s turn takes place in four steps: Each player starts with a hand of two cards and a room card. How to Play:Īs with most dexterity games the game play is fairly simple. The card quality itself is nothing special, but interestingly, each card has two holes punched in them (more on that later). It’s hard to describe, but its gross nature seems to fit the game quite well. The artwork on them has a very odd, cartoonish feel to it. In addition to the plastic garbage can, the only other component is the game cards. When playing, the can actually doubles as the area where cards are placed, so in this case, the irregularly shaped game box makes sense. Garbage Day’s box is actually a plastic trash can which holds the base game’s cards when not in use. Usually I’m not a huge fan of irregularly shaped game boxes, as it makes storing them on the shelf a pain. Game Components: Each card has two holes on it, which a player must be able to see through once placed. Careful must be taken though, for if you knock too many cards off of the pile, you’re out of the game! Last one left is the winner. You’ll be placing cards into your room, opponent’s room, or onto the can itself. There are no victory points to be earned here, the name of the game survival. In Garbage Day, players will be placing trash cards onto a trash can, which also doubles as the game “box”. A quick playing, game of skill and coordination, where players must clean out their room and deftly stack cards into the garbage can. Blech.ĭespite the unfriendly theme, the designers at Mayday Games decide to pay homage to this ages old chore with their latest dexterity game. It’s smelly, gross and you occasionally get splashed with “garbage water”. And among chores, taking out the trash has to be one of the worst. It’s even in the name it’s a “chore” to do.
